Chronic fatigue is a persistent condition characterised by extreme tiredness that doesn’t improve with rest and significantly impacts daily life. It is often associated with other conditions, though fatigue can also stem from other medical or psychological factors such as stress, depression, or autoimmune disorders. Symptoms may include brain fog, muscle pain, unrefreshing sleep, and difficulty concentrating.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy can be an effective tool in managing chronic fatigue by addressing negative thought patterns and behaviours that may contribute to or worsen symptoms. CBT helps patients reframe unhelpful beliefs about fatigue, reduce stress, and develop healthier coping strategies, such as pacing activities and improving sleep habits. While CBT does not cure chronic fatigue, it can enhance quality of life by helping individuals regain a sense of control over their condition and reduce feelings of helplessness.
