My life – work balance was taking a negative downturn, concerned with my wellbeing and thoughts I was experiencing, I spoke to my General Practitioner who diagnosed a Depression Episode. He prescribed medication to help, though he advised I sort additional professional help as a matter of urgency. I found the Values, that had help me to succeed in the Royal Marines, subsequently assisted me to maintain a positive mental attitude and determination to fight and conquer, when diagnosed with a rare form of Non-Hodgkinson’s Lymphoma, was in fact hindering my transition from Military to Civilian Life.
I was fortunate to be signposted to Alex at Prometheus by the Soldier, Sailor & Airforce Association (SSAFA) and The Royal Marine Charity (TRMC), at the first session with Alex I had a feeling of solace, the man before me knew his profession. A program of further sessions followed with his skilful expertise and guidance, he helped me to make alterations to my behaviour and perception. There was tranquillity and structure in these sessions, as the weeks went by the fog in my mind slowly started to lift and clear. I can’t thank Alex enough for his patience and support during this dark time.
